Seven Christmas Flashmob videos that will make you happy

I’m a total sap when it comes to Christmas music, I can’t help myself, retain songs just make me super sentimental, I can’t make it through singing The Christmas Song without choking up at the end, you know that part where they say “And so I’m offering this simple phrase
To kids from 1 to 92″ I loose it overtime! So today when I found myself in a black hole of Holiday videos on Youtube, I decided to share a few of my favorite Christmas Flash Mob videos. I hope they bring you a little bit of Christmas cheer, and perhaps you even shed a happy tear.

Okay I want to go to a Choir! Choir! Choir! event so badly! Like seriously it is everything I want in life! Happy people singing together. It’s probably as close to a real life musical as I will ever get.

I hate being stuck in an airport especially during the holidays. Seriously like just get me on a plane and get me the heck out of there! While my husband might hide behind his luggage if this happened when we were traveling, my face would have a permanent smile glued to it!

Okay, so I want this! Can someone make this happen? I would literally DIE if carolers ever showed up at my door. In fact I would probably put my coat on and go join them as long as they weren’t wearing some crazy outfits from the 1800’s that I totally don’t have in my closet.

Anyone have a trailer I can borrow to do this next Christmas? It’s part prank, part amazing and all together fun!

While I love New England, I do miss NYC at Christmas. While it’s cold as fuck and you freeze while sitting on the subway sometimes, the lights and the smiles and just the glow of the city is something you don’t get anywhere else.

Speaking of subways. Why did this never happen to me? I want to be somewhere when everyone breaks out in Christmas Carols. Sadly I don’t have the guts to try and make it happen myself. I need some backup! Are you in?

I’m in full crying mode at this point. And this video just does me in! SO much LOVE!

5 things that are making me happy this Christmas

A few times a year I send out an email with a few things that are making me happy! It ranges from DIY projects, books, recipes, funny videos… Really anything that just fills me with joy at the moment! I wanted to share my holiday edition here on the blog! But if you want to be sure to never miss my lists of favorites, sign up for my e-mail list full of fun!

Since the year is winding down – I wanted to share 5 things that make me happy during the holidays. From music, to recipes to.. well you’ll see below! I truly hope you have a Holiday season filled with joy!

My Holiday Playlist: I was going to list my 5 favorite Holiday songs but I have way more than five so… I put together this spotify Playlist for you to get in the Christmas Spirit! A mix of some classics and some little known gems!

My Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies: For serious! These are amazing! So if you want something classic for Santa, or your next party. I highly suggest these! Plus you won’t have any left to take back home! Score!

Holidays on Ice – I pull this book out every Christmas and at least read the first short story. David Sedaris always has me in stitches. He’s sarcastic and witty, oh and he curses a lot. Not a book reader? You can listen to him tell his classic Santaland Diaries on this American Life.

Pinterest Board of Gift Wrapping – I hate wrapping but I love decorating with ribbon and twine and all the razzle dazzle of the holidays! If you are looking for a little inspiration checkout all these neat ideas I collected for you on my Pinterest board!

My favorite places to shop small this Holiday Season. – If you are still shopping for the perfect gift, or just browsing for yourself, check out these amazing shops!

Long Winter Farm – Their Lip balm makes a great stocking stuffer
Kinship Goods – Their cozy sweatshirts and t-shirts are always on my list
Whimsy and Spice – YUM! Try their Earl Grey Cookie!
Jenna Rose Handmade – Bags and totes with amazing prints!
Meadow Ceramics – She’s in Denmark so probably not in time for Christmas – but I would be stoked with a photo of one of her amazing pieces until it arrived!

How to add some sparkle to your Holiday cards!

Bells are jingling, fires are crackling and you are getting ready to send your Christmas cards out to family and friends! This year I’ve got the perfect way fancy-up your envelopes, and keep your handwriting extra straight with this handy Embossing tutorial.
Embossing tutorial, mail art hand lettered, embossing pens

    A Lettermate
    Embossing Powder
    Embossing Pens
Your favorite Pen (I love these jelly roll pens for dark paper)
    A Heat Tool

First thing is first, decide where your want your address on your envelope. You can center it, put it all the way on the left, make it on an angle, really anything your heart desires! I decided to left align this envelope. Take out your handy lettermate and align it with your envelope to get it nice and straight.

Then simply start writing the address between the open windows of the lettermate. You can use the handy dandy lines to help space out your lettering, or to help center your lettering.

PRO TIP: If you want to fully center your addresses, start writing your address from the middle out. If the address is 20 SOUTH STREET Start with the “h” in south in the middle of the lettermate and work your way out left and right one letter at a time.

Once the ink is fully dry from your address lettering, grab your embossing pen and letter in the name. I used the clear embossing pen on this dark envelope, and your can still see the ink as it darkens the envelope like water would.

As soon as you are done you want to have your embossing powder handy, because you want to shake it on before your embossing pen ink is dry! Make sure you cover all parts of your lettering that you want to emboss. Don’t worry about using “too much” powder most of it will go back in your tub.

Gently lift your envelope and tap off the extra embossing powder onto a scrap paper, so you can easily transfer the extra powder back into the tub.

If you have any areas of embossing powder, that you don’t want, you can lightly blow on the area, or use a small paintbrush to brush it off.

Now comes the fun part. Get out your heat tool and fire it up. Slowly wave it in front of your envelope and watch the magic happen. You will see a color shift as your powder hardens and turns super shiny!

PRO TIP: You may want to slowly warm up your paper to prevent warping and keep it at a little further from your paper and then when the paper feels sufficiently warmed, move the heat tool in close enough to melt the powder. You also can put your envelope under a heavy book once it is cooled if you have any warping.

That’s it! You did it! A super simple super fun way to snap up your mail this holiday season, or really any time of the year! I would LOVE to see what you come up with so be sure to tag me on Instagram so I can checkout your creative adventures!

Throw Kindness around like Confetti! Background for your iPhone & iPad

A little bit of kindness goes a long way. So imagine how far a confetti bomb of kindness could go! I know, I know, sometimes it’s just so hard to be kind to each other! Maybe you’ve had the worst day ever! You spilled your latte on your new dress in the morning, your co-workers can’t seem to do anything for themselves and you promised to make cupcakes for a party tomorrow and you wish you could back out! We have all been there!

So instead of putting your hair up in that top knot and shutting down (I mean if you love a high bun and wear it all the time, go for it! That’s pretty much my go to look.) try a little kindness to yourself and those around you! Treat yourself to 15 minutes of uninterrupted Facebook scrolling or take a bike ride around the neighborhood for fun. Hold the door open for someone at the grocery store (because those cupcakes need sprinkles) and just smile at everyone around you (we all know smiles and laughter are contagious).

If you need a little more chill and a little more happiness in your life, grab my free digital background for your device! Hope you’ll share how a little bit of kindness goes a long way with me on instagram! Just tag me @thechattypress!

Hello Spring! A free 8×10 Print for April 2017

We still have a bit of snow on the ground, but my Irises are trying to poke their way though the icy snow cone that is my front garden. I’m beyond ready to spend sometime outside and enjoy some new colors, rather than the brown and white of winter in the North East. While I sit and wait for the greens to turn green, and my allergies to kick in, you can decorate your space with this original Watercolor print featuring some lush leaves and blooms! This print is only available until the end of April (and hopefully the snow will fully melt before then).
